This piece is an invitation to step outside the tyranny of the clock and return to the rhythm of the natural world.

At the heart of this altar is an impossible clock face, the main note is that XIII takes the place of XII. It is intentionally wrong. It reminds us that some of the most meaningful moments in life cannot be measured by schedules, deadlines, or productivity. The "thirteenth hour" represents the space beyond ordinary time, the moment when you stop rushing and begin noticing.

A crow rests upon the face of the clock as a quiet witness. Throughout many cultures, crows have been regarded as observant, intelligent birds, making them a fitting symbol for awareness, perspective, and seeing beyond what is immediately in front of us.

Standing above the clock, at the center of the piece, is a petrified wood flame. Fire often symbolizes transformation, while petrified wood is the result of an extraordinary natural process that unfolds over immense spans of time. Together they represent a simple truth, that the deepest transformations rarely happen quickly.

On the sides of the flame are a pair of goat horns, creating a visual gateway into another way of viewing time, not as something to chase, but as something to inhabit.

On both sides of the horns side stand moss agate towers, chosen for their connection to the imagery of forests, growth, and the quiet persistence of nature. They remind us that forests are never in a hurry, yet they continue to grow.

Nestled between the horns and the flame are pine cones, symbols of seasons, renewal, and life's natural cycles. Leaning against each pine cone is a tilted hourglass. Their position is intentional. Rather than standing upright and counting every grain of sand, they have been laid to rest, suggesting that not every moment needs to be measured.

At the center rests a moss agate bowl, which may also be used as a sphere holder. It represents the place where we return to ourselves, the calm center found when we stop living by the clock alone. It may be left empty as a reminder of stillness or used to hold meaningful objects such as a crystal spheres, seasonal offerings, written intentions, acorns, herbs, or other items that reflect your personal practice.

Surrounding the clock underneath are moss agate and labradorite chips. The moss agate evokes the steady rhythm of the living world, while the flashes within labradorite remind us that not everything meaningful is immediately visible. Some changes reveal themselves only with time and a shift in perspective.

At the bottom of the base are red and black wooden flowers, which provide balance. Red speaks to the vitality of living fully, while black invites quiet reflection, reminding us that both action and rest belong within a complete life.

Included with the altar are two pentacle charm candle holders. The pentacle has long been used within many modern Pagan and witchcraft traditions as a symbol of balance, representing the relationship between the elements and the whole. They offer space for candles during meditation, seasonal observances, or moments of quiet reflection.

Using The Thirteenth Hour:

Place this altar where you are most likely to pause, whether that is a meditation space, sacred altar, bookshelf, entry table, office, or anywhere life tends to move too quickly.

Use it as a visual reminder to slow your breathing before beginning your day, to reflect before making important decisions, to sit in silence after lighting a candle, or simply to remember that growth rarely follows a schedule.

The Thirteenth Hour does not ask you to ignore time. It invites you to remember that the most meaningful parts of life ie healing, wisdom, love, creativity, and becoming will unfold in their own season.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is to step into the thirteenth hour, where life is no longer measured by the clock, but by the depth with which it is lived.
