St. John’s wort is an herbaceous perennial that grows wild along roadsides and in disturbed meadows. It is a native of Europe and a naturalized dweller of temperate climates worldwide. It bears bright, lovely yellow flowers that are evocative of the sun. The blossoms are typically harvested near the beginning of the flowering cycle on St. John’s Day, which falls annually on June 24^th. They continue to produce blossoms that are gathered throughout the summer months.
